BBC reporter reveals details of Sanchez-Mkhitaryan Arsenal, Man United deal
Reporter David Ornstein reveals the reported details behind the Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan swap deal
Alexis Sanchez’s transfer to Manchester United will be a straight swap for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who will join Arsenal, according to BBC Sport reporter David Ornstein.
It has been one of the most hotly-anticipated transfer of the January window as Manchester United made their move to bring Sanchez to Old Trafford.
The Chilean’s future has been a relentless source of speculation in the last few months after he entered into the final 12 months of his contract at The Emirates.
Arsenal are reported to have been keen on getting Mkhitaryan as part of the deal as Arsene Wenger looked to bolster his attacking options following Sanchez’s exit.
And BBC Sport reporter Ornstein has claimed that there will be no money exchanged between the two clubs, with Mkhitaryan heading to Arsenal as part of the deal.
Ornstein wrote on Twitter: “EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan agrees move to Arsenal in a deal that will see Gunners forward Alexis Sanchez go opposite way. It’s a straight swap, no money involved.
“Paperwork complete, Mkhitaryan will undergo a medical over the next 2 days #MUFC #AFC.”
Manchester United return to FA Cup action on Friday night when they take on Yeovil Town in the fourth round.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are now preparing for their crunch League Cup semi-final clash against Chelsea at The Emirates on Wednesday night.
The Gunners head into that game after having played out a goalless draw with the Blues in the first leg at Stamford Bridge earlier in the month.
