Rio Ferdinand has taken to social media to reveal his delight at seeing Jose Mourinho sign a new contract at Manchester United this month.
The Portuguese coach has signed a new extension with the Red Devils to keep him in charge at Old Trafford until 2020 at the earliest, with the option of a further year.
Mourinho put pen to paper on his new deal on Thursday as he committed his short-term future to the Old Trafford club.
The news came just days after Manchester United confirmed the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal as part of the deal which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan head in the opposite direction.
And Ferdinand took to social media to express his delight at seeing Mourinho put pen to paper on a new contract with Manchester United.
Ferdinand wrote on Twitter: “Jose signing a new contract for @ManUtd = stability.
“Just what we need after a few yrs of chopping and changing managers.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United are now preparing for their crunch Premier League showdown against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils are currently second in the Premier League table as they look to try and significantly close the 12-point gap to Manchester City before the season is out.
Manchester United won both the Europa League and League Cup in Mourinho’s first campaign in charge last term.
