Jose Mourinho urged to make this signing for Man United in January
Tony Cottee discusses the signings he thinks Man United should be making in the January transfer window
Tony Cottee believes that Manchester United need to sign a new midfielder in the January transfer window.
The Red Devils are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks as Jose Mourinho considers bolstering his squad in the mid-season transfer window.
Manchester United are currently in second place in the Premier League table and 15 points behind Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title.
Mourinho was relatively active in the summer transfer window as he added Victor Lindelof, Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku to his squad at Old Trafford.
It remains to be seen how much business Manchester United will do in the January transfer window but Cottee feels that the midfield is one area the Red Devils should look to address.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Cottee said: “[They need to strengthen in] midfield maybe, but they’ve got Pogba.
“According to Mourinho, he wants lots of money and lots of signings. I don’t think there’s an awful lot wrong with the squad. They’ve just not been getting the results.
“Maybe just tweak it a little bit but January is not the best time to buy anyway. You do your business at the end of the season.
“There’s enough talent in that squad for them to be getting results.”
Manchester United have next week off before they return to Premier League action on Monday night with a home clash against Stoke City at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are aiming to at least finish in the top four this season after they ended up in sixth place in the table last term.
Manchester United did, though, win both the Europa League and the League Cup under Mourinho last season.
