Juan Mata has lavished praise on Jesse Lingard following his sparkling form for Manchester United this season.

The 25-year-old has been one of the Red Devils’ standout players in recent weeks and has been earning huge amounts of praise for his performance.

Lingard was once again on target for the Red Devils on Friday night as he scored Manchester United’s first goal in their 2-0 victory over Derby in the third round of the FA Cup at Old Trafford before Romelu Lukaku’s strike.

The England international has now scored five goals in his last six games in all competitions for the Red Devils and Mata has admitted he has been delighted with his recent top improvements for Manchester United.

Speaking to Manchester United’s website, Mata said: “He’s got different qualities and he’s very smart, intelligent and dynamic to look for the ball.

:He plays and moves and always looks for the pass and in the box he finishes.

“Sometimes he makes mistakes like every one of us but he’s scoring a lot of goals and we are happy for him.”

Lingard and Mata will both be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action on Monday week with a home clash against Stoke City.

Jose Mourinho’s men are currently second in the table and 15 points behind leaders Manchester City after 22 games so far this season.

The Red Devils finished sixth in the Premier League last term as they won both the Europa League and League Cup in Mourinho’s first campaign in charge.
