Jose Mourinho tells Man United star he’s missing ‘unbelievable’ chances
Jose Mourinho discusses Marcus Rashford's dip in form for Man United in recent weeks
Jose Mourinho has admitted that Marcus Rashford needs to improve his finishing and says the striker has been missing “unbelievable” chances for Manchester United recently.
The 20-year-old is widely regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in English football but he has struggled to find the net in recent weeks.
Indeed, Rashford’s last goal for the Red Devils came in the 2-1 loss to Manchester City at Old Trafford back on 10 December and he has not scored in the eight games since then.
Mourinho says Rashford has been in top form in Manchester United training of late but he has been struggling to convert his chances into goals.
Speaking at his post-match news conference after Manchester United’s FA Cup win over Derby on Friday night, Mourinho said: “In training, he [Rashford] is scoring unbelievable goals but is coming to matches and missing unbelievable chances, hitting the post and the goalkeeper saves, so clearly the players have these moments.
“I’m not worried with Marcus because the good moment will arrive.”
Manchester United do not return to Premier League action until their clash with Stoke City in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Monday week.
The Red Devils are currently third in the table and a staggering 16 points behind leaders Manchester City after 22 games of the new campaign.
With the January transfer window now open, it remains to be seen whether Mourinho will opted to bolster his squad now or wait until the summer.
