Jose Mourinho praises Romelu Lukaku for his performance in Man United's 1-0 win over Burnley on Saturday
Jose Mourinho singled out Romelu Lukaku for special praise after Manchester United’s 1-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Lukaku has been getting used to life at Old Trafford in the last few months after having signed for the Red Devils from Everton in the summer transfer window last year.
The 24-year-old has come under intense scrutiny for his form in front of goal for the Red Devils since his move from the Toffees six months ago.
He has scored 11 goals and made five assists in 23 Premier League appearances for United in his first campaign under Mourinho at Old Trafford.
The Belgium striker turned provider on Saturday when he set up Anthony Martial to score the winning goal at Turf Moor in the 55th minute.
And Mourinho was absolutely thrilled by Lukaku’s unselfish performance in the victory at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking at his post-match news conference, Mourinho said: “It was amazing but sometimes people look at strikers and analyse just the number of goals, which is not fair because he [Lukaku] is a team player and today the quality, the vision, the pass to make Martial face the one against one was fantastic.”
Manchester United now switch their attentions back towards FA Cup affairs and their fourth round clash away to Yeovil Town on Friday night.
The Red Devils are currently in second place in the Premier League table and 12 points behind leaders Manchester City.
