Guillem Balague warns Man United about ‘massive club’ ready to swoop for Alexis Sanchez
Manchester United face competition from a 'massive club' for Alexis Sanchez, according to Guillem Balague
Guillem Balague has warned Manchester United about a “massive club” lurking in the background ready to sign Alexis Sanchez if the Red Devils hesitate over a potential deal.
The Arsenal number seven was widely tipped to move to Premier League leaders Manchester City over the past couple of months after the Citizens missed out on the 29-year-old in the summer transfer window.
However, Manchester United disrupted Manchester City’s pursuit of Sanchez and the Red Devils are now favourites to sign the Gunners forward after the Citizens pulled out of the race to sign Sanchez.
The 20-time English champions are reported to have offered Arsenal and Sanchez more money than Manchester City in order to secure Sanchez’s signature, even offering Henrikh Mkhitaryan as a makeweight in a potential swap deal.
However, Sky Sports News reporter Balague has claimed that Manchester United need to act quickly as a big club is waiting in the wings to seize the chance to sign Sanchez should the Red Devils falter in their attempt to sign the Arsenal contract rebel.
“Unless Man United sorts it out very soon, there is another massive club that will go for Alexis and they could lose him. Another club [not Chelsea],” Balague told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“Mino Raiola is pushing for the deal [Mkhitaryan-Sanchez swap deal] because he knows someone else is lurking.”
Sanchez scored 24 goals in 38 games in the Premier League last season.
Arsenal signed Sanchez in a £35m deal from La Liga giants Barcelona in the 2014 summer transfer window.
