Arsenal shareholder Piers Morgan sends message to Alexis Sanchez after Man United move
Outspoken Arsenal supporter Piers Morgan reminds Alexis Sanchez that Man United aren't the biggest team in England
Piers Morgan was quick to remind Alexis Sanchez that Manchester United aren’t the most powerful club in the Premier League following the forward’s move to Old Trafford.
The Chile international completed a switch to Manchester United on Monday evening to end months of speculation surrounding the 29-year-old’s future at Arsenal.
Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan moved to Arsenal as part of the deal as the Red Devils handed the South American their prestigious number seven shirt.
Sanchez hailed Manchester United as the “biggest club” in England following his transfer.
But Arsenal shareholder Morgan didn’t waste any time reminding Sanchez that Manchester United are 12 points behind leaders Manchester City.
Morgan wrote on Twitter: “Mate, @Alexis_Sanchez – United are not even the biggest or most powerful club in Manchester.”
Sanchez was regularly linked with a move to Manchester City over the past 12 months but a deal ultimately failed to materialise.
The Red Devils managed to swoop in and secure the South American’s signature ahead of their bitter city rivals.
Manchester United are in second place in the Premier League table and in a strong position to finish in the top four for the first time in three seasons.
The 20-time English champions will take on La Liga side Sevilla in the Champions League round of 16 next month.
