Guillem Balague provides latest Man United update on Alexis Sanchez bid
La Liga expert Guillem Balague reveals the dilemma facing Alexis Sanchez after offers from Manchester City and Manchester United
Guillem Balague has revealed that Alexis Sanchez is facing a choice between working with Pep Guardiola again at Manchester City or earning more money at Manchester United in the January transfer window.
The Chile international’s future has been a source of relentless debate in the Premier League over the past couple of months after the world-class forward entered the final six months of his current Arsenal contract.
Sanchez was close to a move to Manchester City in the summer but a proposed deal fell through following Arsenal’s inability to sign a replacement for the Chilean forward, with Thomas Lemar turning down a £92m transfer.
The 29-year-old has now emerged as a surprise target for Manchester United given the Red Devils have previously been linked with a move to sign former Real Madrid midfielder Mesut Ozil from Arsenal.
Reports on Thursday suggested that Manchester United were willing to offer Armenia international Henrikh Mkhitaryan in a swap deal to ensure Sanchez moves to Old Trafford rather than the Etihad Stadium.
La Liga expert Balague took to Twitter to reveal that Manchester United are willing to pay Arsenal more money and hand Sanchez a superior contract than Premier League leaders Manchester City.
Balague tweeted: “On Alexis. City don’t want to spend more than £20m. They have been told the player wants to play for Pep. But United will pay Arsenal/player more. Suggesting City will not bid for him is a way to put him under pressure -Pep or money, Alexis?”
