Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Alexis Sanchez was born to play for Manchester United.

The Chile international’s move to Old Trafford was finally confirmed on Monday evening after days of speculation.

And Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan completed a switch to Arsenal as part of the deal for Sanchez.

The 29-year-old striker was initially linked with a move to runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City over the past 12 months.

However, Manchester United were able to put together a far superior financial package for the South American to edge ahead of their city rivals in the race for his signature.

Sanchez is expected to finalise a move to Manchester United in the next 48 hours to add more firepower to Jose Mourinho’s team.

Former Liverpool FC captain Redknapp believes Sanchez is the perfect addition to the Manchester United side.

“Some players are born to play for Manchester United and Alexis Sanchez is one of them,” Redknapp told the Daily Mail.

“He can handle the pressure that comes with being part of this club.

“Sanchez is a warrior who is blessed with incredible talent. He is a killer in the box who lives to score goals.

“Two years ago, he was one of the best forwards in Europe but this season it is clear he has not been enjoying his football at Arsenal.”

Sanchez scored 24 times in 38 games in the Premier League last season to finish as Arsenal’s leading goal-scorer.

The South American forward won two FA Cup titles at Arsenal but the former Barcelona and Udinese man was unable to fire the Gunners to Premier League title glory.

Sanchez will be tasked with ending the Red Devils’ four-season title drought in the Premier League.
