Jose Mourinho wants quality 28-year-old to be Man United’s first January signing – report
Manchester United are keen to try and push through a deal to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid this month, say reports
Manchester United are set to step up their attempts to try and sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid before the end of the January transfer window, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Express is reporting that the Red Devils want to try and bring the talented 28-year-old attacker to Old Trafford as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his front-line.
The same report says Real Madrid are “ready to offload” Bale after becoming frustrated by the player’s persistent fitness issues since his move to The Bernabeu.
Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move to sign Bale in the past and were touted as a possible destination for him before he signed for Real Madrid from Tottenham back in 2013.
However, the Wales international – who has scored two goals and made one assist in six La Liga games this term – has struggled to really produce consistent performances for the Spanish side and has been linked with a move away in recent times.
The same story says that Manchester United have hope that they may be able to push through a deal to sign Bale before the mid-season transfer window closes at the end of January.
The article also claims that Tottenham have a buy-back option in Bale’s contract, meaning that Spurs would have 72 hours to match Manchester United’s offer and discuss personal terms with the player.
Manchester United are next in action when they take on Stoke City next Monday in the Premier League at Old Trafford.
