Jose Mourinho shelves plans to make Man United defensive signing – report
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has decided to stick with Luke Shaw and end his interest in signing a left-back, according to reports
Luke Shaw’s recent resurgence has convinced Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho to shelve plans to sign a new left-back, according to reports.
The Independent is reporting that the Red Devils are no longer in the market to sign a full-back for the left side of the Manchester United defence.
Shaw’s renewed commitment and return to form, the article states, has prompted the Manchester United manager to change his mind on the England international.
The Red Devils had been linked with a move to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose and long-term Chelsea target Alex Sandro in recent weeks.
However, the Independent article reveals that Mourinho was planning to sell Shaw in the summer transfer window but the Portuguese coach has had a change of heart.
Shaw has started eight of Manchester United’s games in all competitions in December and January to rediscover some form.
The England international had previously made a mere two appearances to cast doubt on his future at the 20-time English champions.
Shaw moved to Manchester United in a £27m deal from Southampton in the 2014 summer transfer window under Louis van Gaal.
The Three Lions defender broke his leg in two places during a 2-1 loss to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League in September 2015 to curtail his progress at Old Trafford.
