Man United still in talks with 30-year-old versatile midfielder, claims reporter
Manchester United midfielder Marounae Fellaini is still holding talks with the club about a new deal, according to Bryan Swanson
Manchester United are still in discussions with Marouane Fellaini over a new deal despite talk of the Belgian midfielder leaving Old Trafford, according to reporter Bryan Swanson.
Fellaini has less than six months remaining on his current Manchester Untied deal to open up the possibility of the defensive midfielder leaving on a free transfer in the summer.
The former Everton star has been attracting interest from Serie A and Turkish clubs Besiktas and Fenerbahce in the January transfer window given the uncertainty surrounding his future at Old Trafford.
According to reports in the British media on Tuesday, Fellaini informed Manchester United boss Mourinho of his desire to leave the Red Devils in search of a new challenge at the end of the season.
Mourinho has often spoken of his admiration for Fellaini and underlined his importance to the 20-time English champions during the summer.
Sky Sports News reporter Swanson has taken to Twitter to shed light on Fellaini’s negotiations with Manchester United and to quash reports suggesting the defensive midfielder wants out at Old Trafford.
Swanson wrote on Twitter: “We’re told Marouane Fellaini remains in talks with Manchester United. No decision yet over new contract. #MUFC #SSN”
Manchester United are in second place in the Premier League table but 15 points behind current leaders Manchester City.
The Red Devils will take on La Liga giants Sevilla in the Champions League last 16 next month.
