Former Arsenal midfielder Merson appeared to suggest that Manchester United won’t make any additions this month.
“Jose Mourinho said after the Burnley game that Man Utd had not spent as much as Man City, but he tends to get his business done very early in the summer. As soon as the season finishes, he’s in there – bang, smash, wallop, gets his players and then goes on holiday before working on his team,” Merson told Sky Sports.
Manchester United won the League Cup and the Europa League in Mourinho’s first season in charge at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the table but secured a place in the Champions League thanks to their Europa League triumph.
