Michael Owen states his prediction for Yeovil v Man United
The former Man United striker believes the Red Devils will ease to a straightforward win against Yeovil Town in the FA Cup fourth round
Michael Owen is backing Manchester United to ease to a comfortable win against Yeovil Town in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday night.
The Red Devils will be looking to maintain their progress in the cup competition following the disappointment of losing 2-1 to Bristol City in the Carabao Cup quarter-final earlier this month.
Manchester United booked their place in the fourth round thanks to 2-0 win against Derby County at Old Trafford thanks to goals from Jesse Lingard and Romelu Lukaku.
The 20-time English champions have won their last three Premier League games to build some momentum in the top flight following a difficult spell during the festive schedule.
The Red Devils will take on League Two side Yeovil Town on Friday night as Jose Mourinho’s men look to avoid a potential upset.
Yeovil are in 21st place in England’s fourth tier and could be heading out of the Football League.
Unsurprisingly, former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Owen is backing the Red Devils to win to nil against Yeovil Town in the FA Cup.
“You have to go back to 1949 for the last time Yeovil beat a side from the top-flight in the FA Cup (Sunderland) and they have failed to score in seven of the nine ties in the interim period,” Owen told BetVictor.
“It is hard to believe that the Glovers from the lower reaches of League Two can trouble Jose Mourinho’s side who I feel will make serene progress into the next round.
“The sides have met three times previously in the FA Cup and the current score stands at 13-0 to United.”
Manchester United are in second place in the Premier League table and 12 points behind leaders Manchester City.
The Red Devils won the Europa League and the League Cup in the 2016-17 season.
