Mkhitaryan sends message to Arsenal supporters about Aubameyang
The Arsenal signed is delighted to team up with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the north London side
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has admitted that he is thrilled to have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Arsenal.
The Armenia international completed a move to Arsenal as part of a swap deal that saw Alexis Sanchez seal a switch to Manchester United last month.
Mkhitaryan’s former Borussia Dortmund team-mate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang secured a move to Arsenal on transfer deadline day last month in a club record £56m deal.
Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan spent three seasons together at Westfalenstadion before the playmaker moved to Manchester United in a £30m deal in the 2016 summer transfer window.
The Arsenal signings helped the Gunners to ease to a resounding 5-1 win against Everton at The Emirates last weekend as the pair made their respective home debuts.
Mkhitaryan made three assists during the rout, while Aubameyang opened his account with the north London side’s fourth goal.
And the Manchester United flop admitted that he is absolutely delighted to have the Gabon international as a team-mate once again.
“I think it could only be in a dream that we could join another club other than Dortmund but I am very happy for that,” Mkhitaryan told Sky Sports.
“I have known him very well, he is one of my best friends and the best team-mate I have ever had. I am very happy to have him here and I think all the fans are happy to see him in an Arsenal shirt.
“What can I say? I love playing with him. I can understand him from one step and hopefully for the next games we are going to achieve more.”
Arsenal offloaded Theo Walcott, Francis Coquelin and Olivier Giroud in the January transfer window.
The Gunners finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a Champions League spot.
Arsenal will take on Manchester City in the League Cup final next month.
