Arsenal, Liverpool FC want to sign £40m 24-year-old this summer – report
Arsenal and Liverpool FC could be set for a transfer battle for the signature of Jack Butland this summer, say reports
Arsenal and Liverpool FC could be set for a transfer battle for the signature of Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland in the summer transfer window, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is claiming that both of the Premier League clubs are on the lookout for new number one goalkeepers this summer and the 24-year-old Butland fits the bill.
The same report says that Jurgen Klopp wants to make Butland his number one goalkeeper next season but Arsene Wenger is also keen on signing him as a replacement for veteran Petr Cech.
The story claims that the two Premier League clubs will now go head to head in a bid to sign him in the summer transfer window.
Butland has been earning plenty of praise for his performances for Stoke in recent months and he is rated as one of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League.
Arsenal are believed to be on the lookout for a long-term replacement for Cech, despite the 35-year-old having another season left to run on his contract at The Emirates.
It remains to be seen whether the Gunners would be able to offer Butland Champions League football at The Emirates next season, with the Gunners currently way outside the top four.
