Michael Owen states his prediction for Arsenal v Man City
The Liverpool FC legend is backing Manchester City to beat Arsenal at Wembley in the League Cup final
Michael Owen is tipping Manchester City to beat Arsenal in a high-scoring game in the League Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.
The Gunners edged past defending Premier League champions Chelsea FC in the last four thanks to a 2-1 win at The Emirates.
However, Arsene Wenger’s side will take on a Citizens outfit that are 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
Manchester City have only lost two domestic games in the current campaign following a 4-3 loss to Liverpool FC at Anfield last month.
The Eastlands outfit suffered a shock 1-0 loss to League One side Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup fourth round on Monday night.
Pep Guardiola will be demanding a reaction from his players following a rare humiliation for the Premier League leaders.
The former Liverpool FC legend can’t see past a comfortable win for Manchester City in the League Cup showpiece at Wembley on Sunday.
“The first time these clubs have met in a major final although Arsenal have beaten City on the two previous occasions they have met at Wembley in the 2014 Community Shield and last season’s FA Cup semi-final,” Owen told BetVictor.
“Pep Guardiola has only lost one of his six previous major finals and I think City can bounce back after their shock reverse to Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup earlier in the week.
“I expect to see chances at both ends but it is City to land their first but not last piece of silverware this season.”
Manchester City were 3-1 winners against Arsenal in their last Premier League meeting at the Etihad Stadium earlier this season.
However, the Gunners managed to beat Guardiola’s side in the FA Cup semi-finals last term.
Arsenal are in sixth place in the Premier League table and eight points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea FC.
