Richard Dunne states his prediction for Arsenal v Man City cup final
The former Citizens captain is backing Manchester City to beat Arsenal in the League Cup final on Sunday afternoon
Richard Dunne is backing Manchester City to beat Arsenal in the League Cup final at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
The Citizens will have a point to prove at the home of English football on Sunday following a surprise 1-0 loss to League One side Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup fifth round on Monday night.
Manchester City have only lost two domestic games in the 2017-18 season following a 4-3 loss to Liverpool FC at Anfield in the Premier League last month.
The Eastlands outfit were 3-1 winners against Arsenal in their Premier League meeting at The Etihad earlier this term following a straightforward win.
Manchester City did lose to Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-final last term before the Gunners beat Premier League champions Chelsea in the Wembley showpiece.
However, former Citizens defender Dunne is confident that Manchester City will secure their first piece of silverware under Pep Guardiola on Sunday.
“I imagine Man City will win it,” Dunne told Irish radio station Newstalk.
“They’ve just got too much all over the pitch for Arsenal.
“Arsenal can play and can cause trouble. I think this will be a big year for Man City and this will be the start of it.”
The Citizens were 4-0 winners against Swiss side Basel in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash in Switzerland earlier this month.
Manchester City are sitting 16 points clear of their closest title challenger Manchester United at the top of the Premier League table.
The Citizens are 28 points ahead of Arsenal in the English top flight.
