Chris Sutton believes that Arsenal have blown their chance to finish in the Premier League’s top four this season.

The Gunners slumped to a disappointing 1-0 loss to Tottenham in Saturday’s north London derby showdown at Wembley as they suffered a fresh blow to their Champions League qualification hopes.

That result left Arsene Wenger’s men seven points behind their bitter local rivals in the race for a top-four finish and now looks like it will be extremely unlikely they will be able to break back into the top four before the season is out.

And former striker Sutton believes that Arsenal’s best hope of securing Champions League qualification this season will be winning the Europa League this term.

Speaking to BT Sport on Saturday, Sutton said: “I think Arsenal can’t finish in the top four now.

“It’s Europa League or bust. Has it been good enough from Arsenal this season? Not for me. Spurs are the best side in north London.”

Arsenal missed out on a place in the Champions League this season after they finished fifth in the Premier League table last term.

The north London side had to settle for a spot in the Europa League this term and Wenger’s men will take on Ostersund for a place in the last 16 of the competition on Thursday night.

Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.
