The north London side completed a deal to bring the Armenia international to The Emirates from Manchester United as part of the same transfer which saw Alexis Sanchez head to Old Trafford.
The move came after the 29-year-old had fallen dramatically out of favour at Manchester United under Jose Mourinho this season despite starting the campaign relatively well.
Mkhitaryan marked his home debut for Arsenal in style by setting up three of the Gunners’ five goals in their 5-1 victory over Everton last weekend.
And Arsenal legend Wright believes that Mkhitaryan is now at the right place to kick on and start stepping his game up.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live, Wright said: “Mkhitaryan is a great addition to the squad.
“If Jose gets rid of you, you’ve had a result. You can kick on in a different environment and do well.”
Mkhitaryan will be hoping to once again link up with new Arsenal signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang when the Gunners take on bitter local rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Saturday lunchtime.
Arsenal know that a victory in that game would move them to within just one point of Tottenham Hotspur as the race for Champions League qualification hots up.
The Gunners finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season as they had to settle for a spot in the Europa League.
