Jamie Carragher has admitted that he is still yet to be convinced about Granit Xhaka at Arsenal.

The Swiss midfielder signed for the Gunners from Borussia Monchengladbach in May 2016 and he has been a regular fixture in the Gunners team this season.

Indeed, Xhaka has started every single one of Arsenal’s 25 Premier League games so far this season.

However, the 25-year-old is yet to win over Arsenal fans and he came in for heavy criticism after the Gunners’ 3-1 loss to Swansea City in the Premier League last week.

And former Liverpool FC defender Carragher has admitted that he is yet to be convinced by the midfielder, who has scored one goal and made four assists in the Premier League so far this season.

Speaking on The Debate on Sky Sports, Carragher said: “I am still not sure what he brings to the Arsenal team.”

If Jack Wilshere is deemed fit for Arsenal’s clash with Everton on Saturday it remains to be seen whether Arsene Wenger will opt to star Xhaka or instead pair the England international with Aaron Ramsey in midfield.

Arsenal head into the game a staggering eight points behind fourth-placed Chelsea FC as they bid to try and secure a top-four finish in the top flight this term.
