Jamie Carragher congratulates Arsenal for new signings
Jamie Carragher reflects on Arsenal's transfer business in the January window
Jamie Carragher has praised Arsenal for their impressive transfer business in the January window.
The Gunners were one of the Premier League’s busiest clubs as they brought in both Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The north London side, however, also shipped out a number of players, including Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott, Francis Coquelin and Mathieu Debuchy.
Arsenal were able to make some big-name signings thanks to freeing up some cash by selling players.
And former Liverpool FC defender Carragher has congratulated the Gunners on their moves in the transfer market in the January window.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Carragher said: “I think Arsenal have done great business. ‘Business’ is the key word. They spent just over £12m.
“They got Aubameyang in, who has been rated over the past year or so as one of the best strikers, they got Mkhitaryan in and Sanchez going the other way as a player who didn’t want to be there, and [they got] Ozil to sign a new contract.”
Arsenal fans will be hoping to see both Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang in action for the north London side when they take on Everton in the Premier League at The Emirates on Saturday night.
The Gunners head into that game looking to return to winning ways after the disappointment of their 3-1 loss to Swansea City in midweek.
That result left the north London side a staggering eight points adrift of the top four this season as they look to try and get back into the Champions League places this season.
Arsenal finished fifth and missed out on a place in the Champions League last term.
