Thierry Henry: What I really think about the new Arsenal signing
Thierry Henry delivers his verdict on Arsenal's signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund
Thierry Henry has revealed that he is a big fan of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and is backing the forward to be a big hit at Arsenal.
The 28-year-old put pen to paper on a long-term contract with the Gunners on Wednesday after completing his club-record £56m move from Borussia Dortmund.
The Gabon striker had been heavily linked with a move to The Emirates throughout the January transfer window and the Gunners were finally able to celebrate their new signing on Wednesday.
Former Gunners striker Henry knows a thing or two about performing up front for the north London side.
And the ex-France international is backing the forward to be a big success at The Emirates, where he will link up with his former Dortmund team-mate Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Speaking to Sky Sports News on Wednesday, Henry said: “I’m a big fan of Aubameyang and what he’s done at Borussia Dortmund.
“But they’re losing in and around 180 goals and 70 assists.
“Is Aubameyang going to do what he’s supposed to do and what he does all the time? I think he will but I always talk about the supporting cast and what you will lose with Giroud is a guy who can score goals off the bench.”
Aubameyang could be in line to make his Premier League debut for Arsenal when the Gunners host Everton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The north London side head into that game desperately looking to get back to winning ways after the disappointment of their 3-0 loss to Swansea City in midweek.
The Gunners are currently eight points adrift of the top four as they chase Champions League qualification.
