Arsenal have joined Liverpool FC in the race to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner in the summer transfer window, say reports

Arsenal have joined the likes of Liverpool FC in the race to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner in the summer transfer window, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is reporting that the Gunners are interested in landing the 21-year-old forward, who has also attracted interest from the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea FC.
The same report states that the forward has recently rejected the offer of a new contract at the Bundesliga club, prompting questions about his future.
The article also credits Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid with an interest in landing the forward, but it seems Arsenal be a realistic destination.
Most Arsenal fans, however, would probably agree that it is the defensive side of their squad which needs strengthening more than their attack.
The Gunners splashed the cash on signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the January transfer window.
The German forward has been in fine form for Leipzig so far this season, scoring 10 goals and making three assists in 20 Bundesliga appearances for the German club.
Liverpool FC have already reached a transfer agreement with the German side to bring midfielder Naby Keita to Anfield at the end of the season.
