Arsenal are pondering a move to sign Chris Smalling from Man United this summer, according to reports
Arsenal are weighing up a move to sign Chris Smalling from Manchester United in the summer transfer window, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Star is claiming that the Gunners are interested in signing the 28-year-old England defender as Arsene Wenger looks to add to his defensive options in the summer.
The same report, though, says that the north London side would have to shell out a transfer fee of around £25m if they want to be successful in convincing the Red Devils to sell.
The article says that Wenger has a “long-standing” interest in the Manchester United defender as the Gunners ponder a move this summer.
Arsenal are believed to be on the looking for defensive reinforcements after having failed to bolster their rearguard options in the January transfer window.
The same story says that Arsenal are likely to make a move to sign Jonny Evans from West Brom this summer, but Smalling many now also be another option for the north London side.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are currently preparing for the return leg of their Europa League last 32 tie against Ostersunds at The Emirates on Thursday night, after having won the first leg 3-0 last week.
