Arsenal make talented 22-year-old their top summer transfer target – report
Arsenal have made Max Meyer their top target for the summer transfer window, according to reports
Arsenal have made Max Meyer their number one transfer target for the summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Star is reporting that Arsene Wenger has singled out the 22-year-old Schalke star as his main summer target as he looks to continue bolstering his squad at The Emirates.
Meyer can play in a variety of positions in attacking midfield, and also as a forward, and Wenger is thought to be a keen admirer of the German.
However, the same report says that Arsenal are likely to face stiff competition from the likes of Liverpool FC, Bayern Munich and AC Milan for Meyer’s signature because he is out of contract at the end of the season.
Despite that, the article claims that Wenger has been “working hard” on trying to convince Meyer to sign for the Gunners and link up with fellow German Mesut Ozil at The Emirates.
Meyer has made 20 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke so far this season but has not yet notched up any assists or goals.
Arsenal have already been busy in the transfer market this year, after having secured the signatures of both Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the January window.
