Arsene Wenger sends clear message to Arsenal fans about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Arsene Wenger says there is plenty more to come from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in an Arsenal shirt
Arsene Wenger is backing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to become a truly dangerous player for Arsenal in the second half of the season.
The Gabon striker enjoyed a home debut to remember on Saturday night when he scored with a neat finish in the Gunners’ 5-1 victory over Everton at The Emirates in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old will be hoping to hold down a regular spot in the first team at The Emirates in the coming weeks and months as he bids to help Arsenal break back into the top four.
And Arsenal manager Wenger feels that there is plenty more to come from the striker as he continues to settle into life in north London following his transfer from Borussia Dortmund.
Speaking at his post-match news conference on Saturday night, Wenger said: “He looks always to give a problem to the defenders by his movement.
“I feel that once he is in front of you, it is very difficult to catch him back.
“I liked the quality of his movement, I must say. He is always looking to go in to spaces and it is very difficult for defenders to cover.
“When we know him better and understand him better, I think he will be more dangerous.”
Aubameyang will be hoping to start for Arsenal when the Gunners return to Premier League action on Saturday lunchtime with a crunch clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.
Arsenal are currently outside the top four as they bid to try and improve their form and break back into the Champions League places before the season is out.
The Gunners finished fifth and missed out on a place in the Champions League for this season last term.
