Arsene Wenger: What I really think of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Arsenal
Arsene Wenger reveals his initial impressions of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Arsenal
Arsene Wenger has been impressed by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s first few days as an Arsenal player.
The Gabon international signed for the Gunners in the January transfer window as Wenger moved quickly to bolster his attacking options at The Emirates following the exits of Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott.
The 28-year-old scored his first goal for Arsenal in the Premier League win over Everton last weekend and already looks to have rekindled his understanding with Henrikh Mkhitaryan following the duo’s time at Borussia Dortmund together.
And Wenger has revealed that he has been delighted by Aubameyang’s professional attitude and work rate at Arsenal following his move to the club.
Speaking in an interview with the club’s website, Wenger said: “He looks to be a happy boy. He has a positive smile and very professional attitude.
“It’s a bit early for me to tell you more about him – it’s only [been] one week.
“I met him a few times before by coincidence and he looks highly focused on his job. He looks a guy who needs to be completely focused, involved in his team. He looks to me like that.”
Arsenal are aiming to try and break back into the top four this season after they finished in fifth place in the table last term.
The north London side had to settle for a place in the Europa League this season but know they have a second shot at Champions League qualification if they can win the competition this term.
Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph back in 2003-04, but they have won the FA Cup in three of the last four seasons.
