Steven Gerrard makes prediction about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Arsenal
Steven Gerrard discusses Arsenal's signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund
Steven Gerrard believes that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the man to fire Arsenal back into the top four this season.
The 28-year-old striker completed his move to The Emirates from Borussia Dortmund last week and marked his debut for the Gunners with a goal in the 5-1 victory over Everton on Saturday.
Aubameyang will be hoping to hit the ground running at Arsenal and help to propel the Gunners into the top four this season after they ended up fifth last term.
And Liverpool FC legend Gerrard is convinced that the striker can have a big role in helping Arsenal to enjoy a positive end to the campaign this term.
Speaking to BT Sport on Saturday, Gerrard said: “He’s very capable of doing that [firing Arsenal into the top four].
“From a personal point of view, it’s probably a good time to come in because if he hits the ground running and scores a lot of goals and manages to help them get back in the top four, I’m sure the fans will take to him and everybody will be saying what a great job he’s done.”
Arsenal now switch their attentions towards their crunch Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Saturday lunchtime.
The Gunners, who have not won the title since 2004, will need to avoid defeat in that game as they try and beat their bitter local rivals to claim a spot in the top four this season.
Arsene Wenger’s men had to settle for a spot in the Europa League this season after they missed out on a top-four finish last term.
