Arsene Wenger admits he can’t wait to see Arsenal man link up with new signing
Arsene Wenger explains why he's excited to see Henrikh Mkhitaryan link up with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Arsenal
Arsene Wenger has admitted that he is looking forward to seeing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang link up with his former team-mate Henrikh Mkhitaryan at Arsenal.
The Gunners confirmed a deal to sign the 28-year-old Gabon striker on Tuesday morning after days of speculation about his future at Borussia Dortmund.
Aubameyang will now link up with his former Dortmund team-mate Mkhitaryan at Arsenal as the pair bid to help turn the north London club’s poor Premier League form around.
And Wenger has admitted that he is relishing the prospect of seeing the pair link up in the same team as Alexandre Lacazette at The Emirates.
Speaking to Arsenal Player after the move was confirmed, Wenger said: “Yeah, that’s what we hope and I think we are keen to see them all together you know to see how well we can do.
“They play together, they know each other, so the old reflexes will certainly come back very quickly and that can contribute to offensive efficiency.”
Arsenal return to Premier League action on Saturday evening when they host Everton at The Emirates.
The Gunners are desperately looking to get back to winning ways in the top flight after they were beaten 3-1 by Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night.
The north London side are aiming to break back into the top four this season but currently find themselves a long way adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool FC.
Arsenal will also take on Manchester City in the League Cup final at Wembley later this month.
