Watch: Henrikh Mkhitaryan sends message to new Arsenal signing
The Arsenal signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan welcomes the deadline day addition Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Henrikh Mkhitaryan was quick to welcome Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal following his deadline day move to the Emirates Stadium.
The Gabon international completed a club record £56m move to Arsenal from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund on the final day of the January transfer window.
Aubameyang has signed a long-term contract with the Gunners after the north London side landed one of Europe’s most-prolific goal-scorers.
The 28-year-old will team up with his former Dortmund team-mate Mkhitaryan at The Emirates following the Armenian midfielder’s move to Arsenal earlier in January.
Indeed, the playmaker was handed the Arsenal number seven shirt following the swap deal that saw Alexis Sanchez move to Manchester United.
And Mkhitaryan helped Arsenal to welcome the African forward to the Gunners on transfer deadline day.
The Armenia playmaker wrote the following caption on his Instagram page to accompany the above video:
“#yopierre Welcome Mate 😉💪🏼 @aubameyang97 @arsenal”
Arsenal are in sixth place in the Premier League table and eight points behind their rivals Liverpool FC, who occupy the final Champions League qualifying spot.
The Gunners were knocked out of the FA Cup in January following a surprise 4-2 loss to Championship side Nottingham Forest in the third round.
Arsenal can still qualify for the Champions League if the Gunners win the Europa League.
