Daniele Rugani's agent has confirmed that Arsenal are interested in signing the 23-year-old Juventus defender
Arsenal have expressed an interest in Juventus starlet Daniele Rugani, the Italian defender’s agent has confirmed.
The Gunners were busy in the January transfer window with a number of incomings and outgoings at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal allowed Alexis Sanchez to move to Manchester United but the Gunners signed Henrikh Mkhitaryan as part of the swap deal.
The north London side offloaded Theo Walcott, Francis Coquelin and Olivier Giroud last month to raise transfer funds for a marquee signing.
Arsenal signed Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a £56m deal from Borussia Dortmund on transfer deadline day.
However, the Gunners have struggled defensively in the current campaign after conceding 35 times in 26 games in the Premier League this term.
Arsenal were linked with a potential swoop to sign Rugani in January but a deal failed to materialise.
Rugani’s agent confirmed the Gunners are interested in the 23-year-old but underlined his continued loyalty to the Serie A champions.
“Daniele’s doing well, I’m happy for him,” Davide Torchia told Italian broadcaster Radio Sportiva, as quoted by the Daily Express.
“Arsenal? They didn’t launch any attempts for him.
“They expressed a liking for him but we have respect for Juventus.”
Arsenal signed 20-year-old Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos in a £1.8m deal from PAS Giannina after 16 appearances in Greece’s top flight.
The Gunners will take on rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby at Wembley on Saturday afternoon following their 5-1 win over Everton last weekend.
