Arsenal will target both Jonny Evans and Kostas Manolas in the summer transfer window, according to reporter James Olley.
The Gunners were linked with a move to sign West Brom defender Evans in the January transfer window but they were not able to conclude a deal to land the Northern Ireland international.
Arsenal spent big in bolstering their attacking options in the January transfer window as they concluded deals for both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
However, the north London side did not manage to strengthen their defensive options with some proven quality, with question marks still lingering over the Gunners’ rearguard.
And Evening Standard reporter Olley has revealed that the north London side are likely to revisit a possible deal for the 30-year-old Evans, while also possibly considering a move for 26-year-old Greek defender Manolas.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, Olley said: “Arsenal tried and failed with a late deadline day move for Jonny Evans and they are likely to pursue him again, especially if West Brom are relegated when he will be available for £3m.
“The Gunners have also held a longstanding interest in Roma’s Kostas Manolas.”
Arsenal are currently preparing for their crunch Premier League showdown with bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley next weekend.
The Gunners are aiming to try and break into the top four this season after they finished fifth last term and had to settle for a place in the Europa League this time around.
