Arsene Wenger names five reasons why new Arsenal signing will be success
The Arsenal manager lists five reasons why Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be a success at the north London club
Arsene Wenger has listed five of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s best attributes after Arsenal completed the signing of the Borussia Dortmund striker on transfer deadline day.
The Gunners finally managed to get a deal over the line for the Gabon international in a deal thought to be worth up to £56m for the 28-year-old striker.
Aubameyang, who has signed a long-term contract with the north London side, will be tasked with filling Alexis Sanchez’s void in the Arsenal team.
The African forward established himself as one of Europe’s top strikers during four and a half seasons at the Bundesliga outfit.
Indeed, Aubameyang scored 141 goals in 213 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund under four different managers at the Westfalenstadion.
Speaking to Arsenal Media Player about the African’s deadline day transfer, Wenger offered five reasons why Arsenal supporters can get excited about the centre-forward’s arrival.
“I would say overall his pace, his finishing, the quality of his runs, the quality of reception including crosses,” Wenger said.
“And overall he has huge physical capacity to repeat runs and that will be of course important in the Premier League because physical levels are high.”
Aubameyang earned a reputation as a promising Ligue 1 striker during a successful three-and-a-half year spell at Saint-Etienne.
Former Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp signed Aubameyang during his penultimate season in charge of Borussia Dortmund.
Arsenal lost 3-1 to Swansea City in the Premier League on Tuesday night to slip eight points adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool FC.
