Arsenal could be one of the teams in line to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid this summer if the Wales international leaves the Spanish club, according to reports in the British media.

The Independent is reporting that the Gunners could be a potential destination for the 28-year-old attacker, whose future at the Spanish club is looking increasingly uncertain.

The same report says that Bale could be pushed towards the exit door at Real Madrid after failing to live up to expectations during his time at the club, which has been hampered by injuries and fitness problems.

Bale had been linked with a move to Manchester United in the past but the same article all but rules out a move for the attacker after the Red Devils signed Alexis Sanchez in January.

The same story says that Tottenham will have first refusal on any deal for Bale, but they are unlikely to be able to pay his wages.

That leaves Arsenal as a potential destination for the Wales international, who reportedly supported the Gunners as a child.

However, it clearly remains to be seen whether Arsene Wenger will feel the need to further bolster his attacking options after the signings of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January.
