Jamie Redknapp raves about ‘amazing’ Mesut Ozil ahead of Arsenal v Man City
Jamie Redknapp explains why he feels sorry for Mesut Ozil at Arsenal ahead of the League Cup final

Jamie Redknapp has admitted that he “feels sorry” for Mesut Ozil for the constant criticism aimed at the Arsenal playmaker.
The 29-year-old is widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s finest attacking talents and he has been earning plenty of praise for his displays since his arrival in north London from Real Madrid back in 2013.
However, the Germany international has also attracted his fair share of criticism for failing to produce consistent performances for the north London side.
Ozil will be hoping to help inspire Arsenal to League Cup glory on Sunday when the Gunners take on Manchester City in the final at Wembley.
The World Cup winner recently committed his long-term future to Arsenal by signing a new contract to keep him at the club until the summer of 2021.
And Redknapp is hoping that Ozil will be able to prove his critics wrong in the coming seasons with the north London side.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Redknapp said: “I actually feel sorry for him because he can do things that not many other players can do, but we tend to focus on what he can’t do.
“He has amazing ability. If he gets time on the ball, he can create a lot of problems for City.
“I think that’s what Arsenal have got to do. They’ve got to get him on the ball in dangerous areas.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal will take on AC Milan in the last 16 of the Europa League at The Emirates next month.
The Gunners are hoping to win the competition this term to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.
