Jamie Carragher believes Chelsea FC could find it difficult to keep Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge if Antonio Conte’s side don’t finish in the top four.

The defending Premier League champions have endured a difficult 2017-18 season so far, even though the west London side remain in the hunt for a Champions League spot.

Chelsea FC recorded just their second Premier League win of 2018 on Monday night thanks to a 3-0 win against 20th-placed West Brom at Stamford Bridge.

Hazard broke the deadlock in the first half after superb combination play with Olivier Giroud before the Belgian forward sealed three points with a brilliant goal in the 73rd minute.

The 27-year-old’s brace helped Chelsea FC to end a two-game losing run after the Blues conceded seven times in heavy defeats by Bournemouth and Watford.

Chelsea FC hoisted themselves back into the top four thanks to their 3-0 win and the title holders could move level on points with second-placed Manchester United if Conte’s side win at Old Trafford later this month.

Former Liverpool FC defender Carragher admits he could see Chelsea FC having to fend off interest from some top European clubs if the Blues fall short in the top-four race.

“He is one of the top players in world football, there’s no doubt about that,” Carragher told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports.

“The unfortunate thing when Chelsea are talking about getting into the top four tonight and Hazard said Chelsea are made to win trophies, this season they can still win the FA Cup and the Champions League, but if they don’t get into the top four, you would have to worry about him.

“I think every top club in world football would be looking at that situation if they didn’t get Champions League football.”
