Olivier Giroud has urged Chelsea FC to take a tough run of games “step by step” ahead of the visit of Hull City in the FA Cup fifth round on Friday night.

The France international moved to the west London side from their bitter rivals Arsenal in a £21m deal in the January transfer window.

Giroud made his debut on Monday night and the experienced striker teed up Eden Hazard with a deft assist to break the deadlock in a 3-0 win over West Brom.

Chelsea FC will host Hull in the FA Cup on Friday night before the Blues will take on La Liga giants Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash at Stamford Bridge.

The defending champions will have four days to recover from their European exploits before back-to-back Premier League games on the road at Manchester United and Manchester City.

However, Giroud warned his Blues team-mates that they can’t afford to get distracted by bigger challenges on the horizon ahead of the FA Cup fifth round clash on Friday night.

“We’re going to take the games step by step,” Giroud told Chelsea FC’s website.

“Firstly we want to qualify in the FA Cup and then we have three big games to come, Barcelona in the Champions League and then the two Manchester clubs away, that’s why we need the confidence high. We need to keep it up and build momentum.”

Chelsea FC have only managed to win two games in the Premier League in 2018 so far.

However, the Blues can move level on points with second-placed Manchester United if Chelsea FC win at Old Trafford.
