Gary Neville makes transfer claim about Chelsea FC and Man United
Gary Neville feels that Chelsea FC are no longer spending as big as they used to in the transfer windows
Gary Neville has claimed that Chelsea FC are no longer competing with the likes of the Manchester clubs in terms of Premier League dominance and transfers.
It has not been the best few weeks for Antonio Conte’s side, with the Blues having been knocked out of the League Cup by Arsenal and also struggling to find consistent form in the top flight.
Indeed, Chelsea FC were beaten 3-0 by Bournemouth in front of their home fans at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night as they suffered a blow to their top four hopes.
That result caused the west London side to slump down to fourth place in the Premier League table and they are now just two points ahead of Tottenham in fifth.
The Blues have only won two of their last five games in the top flight as they struggle to replicate the kind of form that won them the title under Conte last term.
And former Manchester United defender Neville feels that the Blues are no longer in the same bracket as the two Manchester clubs in the Premier League at present.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said: “Chelsea aren’t in now for the players Man United and Man City go for [in the transfer window].
“We have always put them in that bracket: Man United, Man City and Chelsea are the big boys.
“You can move Chelsea down to the next pack. They are not competing with the Manchester clubs.”
Chelsea FC will take on FC Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League later this month over two legs.
