Jamie Redknapp believes Antonio Conte isn’t showing the same passion at Chelsea FC this season.

The Italian coach led Chelsea FC to Premier League title glory during his first campaign in charge of the west London side.

The Blues finished seven points clear of runners up Tottenham Hotspur in the 2016-17 season to help Conte get his hands on the Premier League title.

Conte was lauded for his tactical change in the early stages of the season to a 3-4-3 formation to trigger a 13-game winning run.

However, Chelsea FC have struggled to defend their Premier League title in the current campaign and trail leaders Manchester City by 20 points ahead of Monday’s trip to Watford.

The former Juventus boss is facing an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge after Conte expressed his dissatisfaction to miss out on some of his transfer targets.

Ex-Liverpool FC captain Redknapp believes Conte has lost his edge at Chelsea in the 2017-18 season amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding his future at Stamford Bridge.

“The truth is, Conte did a great job to win the league last year with this Chelsea squad,” Conte told Sky Sports.

“It wasn’t quite of Leicester City proportions but he coached that team to the title. They overachieved.

“He realised he had to do it a different way after that defeat by Arsenal which sparked the formation change, and that’s what I admired so much about it. You almost went to the games to watch him as much as the team at times, because he was so influential in how they played.

“But there’s no doubt, when you go to watch Chelsea now, he’s much more passive than he was last year. He’s not given up but he’s not on it like he was last season.”

Chelsea FC signed Everton midfielder Ross Barkley, AS Roma defender Emerson Palmieri and Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud in the January transfer window.

The Blues lost 2-1 to Arsenal in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final last month.
