Jamie Carragher says he would love Antonio Conte to continue as Chelsea FC boss.

The Italian coach is contending with increasing speculation surrounding his future following a disappointing start to 2018.

Chelsea FC lost 4-1 to London rivals Watford at Vicarage Road on Monday night to leave the Blues a point ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

The west London side have lost their last two Premier League games following a 3-0 defeat by Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge at the end of January.

Conte has been critical of Chelsea FC’s transfer policy over the past eight months or so after the Italian head coach missed out on some of his top targets.

The former Juventus head coach was reported to be on the brink of the axe last week despite Chelsea FC winning the title with two games to spare last term.

Former Liverpool FC defender Carragher is hoping that Conte can extend his spell at Stamford Bridge.

“I am a massive fan of Conte. I’d love him to stay. His system brought something different,” Carragher told Sky Sports.

“What they did last season to go from tenth to champions was an outstanding job. He is an outstanding manager.”

Chelsea appointed Conte as Jose Mourinho’s permanent successor at Stamford Bridge in 2016 after their tenth-placed finish.

The Blues won 30 Premier League games en route to their first title under the Italian head coach.
