Olivier Giroud explains difference between Arsenal, Chelsea FC managers
The Chelsea FC signing reveals the difference between Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and his current coach Antonio Conte
Olivier Giroud has lifted the lid on why he is enjoying working with Chelsea FC manager Antonio Conte.
The defending Premier League champions signed Giroud in a £21m deal from London rivals Arsenal in the January transfer window.
Giroud has been tasked with providing Chelsea FC with a greater goal threat given the well documented struggles of Alvaro Morata in recent months.
The France international made a stylish assist in his first full start in Chelsea FC’s 3-0 win over West Brom at Stamford Bridge last week.
The 31-year-old opened his Chelsea FC account with a goal in the west London side’s 4-0 win over Championship side Hull City in the FA Cup fifth round last Friday.
Giroud was a dependable striker at Arsenal but the Frenchman had fallen out of favour under Arsene Wenger over the past couple of seasons.
The January signing explained the subtle difference between his former manager Wenger and current boss Conte.
“You can feel he’s still a player in his head, maybe he wants to help us sometimes on the pitch,” Giroud told BT Sport.
“He can’t stay on the bench! Strikers need a real human relationship with the coach. It’s nice to have the confidence of the coach and you just want to give it back.”
Chelsea FC are in fourth place in the Premier League table but a mere point ahead of Tottenham Hotspur.
The Blues will make the trip to second-placed Manchester United in their next Premier League game at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
