Olivier Giroud sends message to Chelsea FC fans about Eden Hazard
The Chelsea FC signing is excited about a potential partnership with Eden Hazard, as well as the Blues' other playmakers
Olivier Giroud is optimistic that he can build an exciting partnership with Chelsea FC attackers Eden Hazard, Pedro and Willian.
The France international completed a £21m move to Chelsea FC from their London rivals Arsenal in the January transfer window.
Giroud’s deadline day switch ensured Antonio Conte’s attacking options were bolstered for the second half of the 2017-18 season.
The Blues manager handed Giroud his first start for the visit of West Brom on Monday night following successive losses to Bournemouth and West Brom.
Giroud rewarded the Italian’s faith with a delicate assist to tee up Hazard to break the deadlock in the first half of their 3-0 win against the 20th-placed side.
The 31-year-old was replaced in the 60th minute after picking up an injury following West Brom’s physical approach to handling the Chelsea FC signing.
Giroud is excited about the prospect of building an understanding with Chelsea FC playmakers Hazard, Pedro and Willian.
“We try to have a good understanding on the pitch,” Giroud told the club’s website.
“Everything was not perfect because it was the first game. I’m happy but there is still room for improvement. I was very happy to set up the goal for Eden.
“It’s simple to have a good understanding with him because he smells the game, he smells football. With him, Pedro, Willian or whoever plays as the number 10, we always try to have a good understanding.
“It’s easy for me because the two number 10s play closer [to me] than I’ve played in the past, and that’s very important for our game.”
Chelsea FC won the Premier League title with two games to spare last season in Conte’s first campaign in charge of the west London side.
The Blues will take on La Liga giants Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash later this month.
