Harry Redknapp makes worrying Chelsea FC prediction
The former Spurs manager warns Chelsea FC that finishing in the top four could be a difficult challenge this season
Harry Redknapp has warned Chelsea FC that they are facing an uphill battle to finish in the Premier League’s top four.
The defending champions dropped down to fourth place in the table on Wednesday night following a 3-0 loss to Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea FC are two points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur who lead the chasing pack after Spurs were 2-0 winners against Manchester United at Wembley mid-week.
The Blues have only managed to win one of their last four Premier League games and Antonio Conte has struck an increasing disconsolate figure on the touchline.
The west London outfit signed Everton midfielder Ross Barkley, AS Roma defender Emerson Palmieri and Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.
Former Spurs manager Redknapp believes the defending champions could struggle to secure a top-four finish in the top flight this term.
“I worry about Chelsea a bit,” Redknapp told BT Sport Premier League Tonight on Wednesday night.
“You don’t go and get beaten 3-0 by Bournemouth at home. That is a bad result.
“I’ve looked at them recently Chelsea – they’re not the same team. I think they look like they’re in a bit of a decline and I’d be worried about Chelsea making the top four at the moment.”
Chelsea FC have won the Premier League title in two of the past three seasons under Jose Mourinho and then Conte.
The Blues are attempting to win the Champions League crown for the first time since 2012 when Chelsea beat Bayern Munich on penalties.
Conte’s side will take on La Liga giants Barcelona in the Champions League round of 16 next month.
