Olivier Giroud: Why Chelsea FC is the perfect club for me
The Chelsea FC signing explains why he believes the Blues is the "perfect club" for the France international
Olivier Giroud has described Chelsea FC as the “perfect club” for the France striker.
The 31-year-old completed a move to the defending Premier League champions from their London rivals Arsenal in the January transfer window.
The deadline day signing signed an 18-month contract with the west London side following a frustrating start to the 2017-18 season at The Emirates.
Giroud made his full Chelsea FC debut in a 3-0 win against 20th-placed West Brom in the Premier League on Monday night.
The French centre-forward made a deft assist to tee up Eden Hazard to break the deadlock and end Chelsea’s two-game losing run in the Premier League.
Giroud spent six seasons at Arsenal and established himself as a fans’ favourite at the north London club.
However, the January signing has reiterated his delight at completing a move to Chelsea FC despite his long association with their bitter rivals.
“Chelsea was the perfect team for me, the perfect club,” Giroud told the club’s website.
“It’s the Premier League, it’s the club which has won the most titles in the last 10 years, it’s a massive club. I’m very proud and happy to be here.
“People want you to wear the shirt and give the maximum. I know I will have to be efficient, assist sometimes, score sometimes. We don’t have too much time for integration but I feel very good and the boys have been very good to me.”
Chelsea FC will take on Championship side Hull City in the FA Cup fifth round on Friday night.
The Blues will make the trip to second-placed Manchester United in their next Premier League game at Old Trafford on Sunday 25 February.
Chelsea FC hoisted themselves back into the top four ahead of Tottenham Hotspur thanks to a 3-0 win over West Brom.
