Graeme Souness believes Liverpool FC will finish in the Premier League top four but warned Chelsea FC will have to battle with Manchester United to secure fourth spot.

The Red Devils were 2-0 winners against defending champions at Old Trafford last season thanks to goals from Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard either side of half-time.

Manchester United are in second spot and a comfortable six points ahead of fifth-placed Chelsea FC in the race to secure a Champions League spot.

Jose Mourinho’s side hoisted themselves above Liverpool FC and into second place after the Reds temporarily occupied second spot following a 4-1 win against West Ham on Saturday.

Harry Kane netted a late winner to seal a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday to cement their place in the Premier League’s top four.

While Souness is confident Liverpool FC and Tottenham will finish in the top four, the Reds legend is tipping Chelsea FC and Manchester United to battle it out for a top-four finish.

“Yeah definitely [Chelsea are outsiders for the top four now],” Souness told Sky Sports. “I think both Tottenham and Liverpool will get there.

“I think it will be Tottenham, Liverpool and obviously City winning it. And I felt that it will be between Chelsea and Man United.”

Chelsea FC won the Premier League title with two games to spare last season in Antonio Conte’s first season in charge of the west London club.

Manchester United are looking to secure a top-four finish for the first time in three seasons.
