Owen Hargreaves is backing Ethan Ampadu to develop into a quality player at Chelsea FC in the coming seasons.
The 17-year-old has been impressing whenever he has been called upon by Antonio Conte in the cup competitions for the west London club so far this season.
The teenager has made seven first-team appearances for the west London side so far this term and has been putting in very mature performances for such a young player.
Ampadu arrived at Chelsea FC from Exeter City in the summer transfer window and he has clearly already caught the eye of Conte at the west London club.
The defender played for the full 90 minutes as he helped Chelsea FC to keep a clean sheet in their 4-0 thrashing of Hull City in the FA Cup fifth round on Friday night.
And former Manchester United midfielder Hargreaves has been extremely impressed by what he has seen from Ampadu in a Chelsea FC shirt so far this season.
Speaking to BT Sport, Hargreaves said: “For a 17-year-old, every time he’s played, he’s played with such composure. He looks almost like an experienced player.
“Conte gets criticism for not playing some of these talented Chelsea youngsters but he plays Ampadu because he plays well above his years.
“He’s an exceptional young player. He’s going to be a real star for the future.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea FC are currently preparing for their crunch clash against FC Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Blues are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table after a mixed season so far.
