The Danish defender has been earning plenty of praise for his performances for the Blues this term since being promoted to the first team at Stamford Bridge by Conte.
Christensen returned to Chelsea FC last summer after having spent two seasons on loan to German side Borussia Monchengladbach and he has been in impressive form for the Premier League outfit this term.
He has been missing due to a hamstring injury in recent games and Conte believes that his absence has highlighted how important the 21-year-old has become for his team.
Speaking at a news conference at Cobham last week before the clash with West Brom, Conte said: “Andreas Christensen, for sure is an important player for us.
“It’s right to look at the stats, but we have to take them in the right way. Christensen is playing a fantastic season.
“I don’t know what happened in the last two games, because it has happened that Christensen didn’t play and we didn’t concede a goal in the past, but in the last two games, we conceded seven goals.”
Chelsea FC will return to FA Cup action on Friday night when they host Hull City at Stamford Bridge in the fifth round.
The west London side are looking to go one better this season after they reached the final but were beaten by Arsenal last term.
Chelsea FC won the Premier League title in Conte’s first campaign at the club last season but it seems that the Blues will have to settle for a top four finish this term around.
