Antonio Conte has heaped praise on Andreas Christensen for showing maturity beyond his years in a Chelsea FC shirt this season.

The Danish defender has become a regular in the first team under Conte this season and has been earning plenty of praise for his strong performances for the west London side.

Christensen, 21, returned to the starting line-up on Monday night as he helped the Blues keep a clean sheet in their 3-0 victory over West Brom at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

The Dane has made 20 Premier League appearances for Chelsea FC this season and has been rewarded for his fine form with a new contract at the west London club.

And although Conte says that Christensen still has plenty of room for improvement this season, the Chelsea FC boss has been utterly delighted by the way he has performed so far.

Speaking at his post-match news conference on Monday night, Conte said: “We are talking about a player who is only 21, he is showing great maturity, calmness and great personality.

“He’s been performing well from the start of the season. Defensively he’s very good, he needs to improve with the ball, to find solutions with the ball, he has the right potential to do this but we are talking about a player who is only 21.

“For me, he has a brilliant future.”

Chelsea FC are now preparing for their home FA Cup fifth round clash against Hull City at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.

The Blues head into the game looking to book their place in the next round as they bid to win the competition following their run to the final last season.
